The Catchment collects as little as it can. This page describes exactly what we hold and why, in plain terms. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll explain.

Your email address

We only store your email if you choose to give it to us — by subscribing to alerts for a school or borough, or by joining the waitlist for an area we don't cover yet. We use double opt-in: after you sign up we send one confirmation email, and we don't add you to anything until you click the link in it.

We use your email solely to send the updates you asked for. We don't sell it, and we don't share it with councils, schools, advertisers, or anyone else. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately.

Searched postcodes

When someone searches a postcode, we keep a running count of how often each postcode is searched. We use this only to decide which areas to prioritise next. These counts are aggregate — a postcode is not linked to you, your email, or any other identifier.

Removing your data

To unsubscribe from alerts, use the link in any email we've sent you. To have your email erased entirely, or to ask what we hold, email hello@thecatchment.uk and we'll action it.
